Pat Whitworth, M.D.
Dr. Whitworth will present “The Evolving Concepts of Managing the Axillary Nodes in Treatment of Breast Cancer.”
Dr. Whitworth is a General Surgeon at the Nashville Breast Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, and completed his residency at the University of Louisville. Dr. Whitworth has been involved in many surgical aspects of breast cancer care. He is currently the chairperson of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBS) Oncoplastic Working Group, and is a member of the ASBS Mammosite Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Whitworth was one of the co-authors of the recent report on the Z0011 trial, comparing axillary dissection vs no axillary dissection in women with invasive breast cancer and limited sentinel node involvement.
